Chicago Fire FC II will travel to the Piedmont Triad for the first time to face Carolina Core FC Saturday night at Truist Point in High Point, North Carolina.

Chicago returns to action coming off a weather-delayed 2-2 draw against New England Revolution II earlier in the week at SeetGeek Stadium. The visitors took the intiative on Sunday afternoon, taking a 1-0 lead before a weather delay postponed the match at the 21st minute. Upon resumption of the match on Monday morning, Chicago tied it via Jean Alpha Diouf's team-leading fourth goal of 2025. New England retook the lead, but a Patrick Los penalty save and a Claudio Cassano goal for the ages gave the Fire a 2-2 draw.

Carolina Core FC is in the midst of a four-game unbeaten run. The Foxes last won a midweek match against Orlando City B on Wednesday, led by midfielder Jathan Juarez's goal shortly before the first half came to an end. The goal was enough for the win, as goalkeeper Alex Sutton recorded his third clean sheet of the season, good for third most in the league. Having played its inaugural season in 2024, the Core has only faced the Fire once – a 2-1 victory for Chicago at SeatGeek Stadium in 2024, with the winning goal scored by midfielder Harold Osorio.

Chicago Fire II midfielder Trip Fleming has made his mark since signing his first professional contract with Chicago Fire II on Feb. 20, 2025. The Chicago Fire Academy graduate is no stranger to the second team, having played 39 matches as a member of the Chicago Fire Academy before heading to play at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 2023. He had two successful seasons as a Badger but couldn’t stay away from the Men in Red.

He is a veteran on the field, having first debuted with Chicago Fire II in June 2022, where he appeared in 21 matches, starting in 19 of them. In his first professional season, he has started in eight of the team’s nine matches and played the full 90 minutes with the exception of two games. He’s among the best passers of the team with an 87 percent accuracy rate, playing 725 minutes this season. Everyone seems to trip up when #48 comes on the field.
