FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (June 11, 2023) –  Chicago Fire FC II (3-5-5-1) came from behind to tie New England Revolution II (7-4-3-3) 2-2 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Despite going down to 10 men in the 52nd minute, Chicago earned a point in the tie, but New England earned an additional point from the ensuing shootout.

Noeh Hernandez opened the scoring in the 14th minute, putting Chicago on the board with his first Chicago Fire II goal of the season. Hernandez saw the ball in the middle of New England’s 18-yard-box and outmuscled a defender to get a shot. The shot went straight down the middle, through traffic and into the middle of the net.

New England evened the score just three minutes later as Jordan Adebayo-Smith set up Jack Panayotou for a goal. Adebayo-Smith then put New England ahead with a goal of his own in the 21st minute, taking advantage of a defensive error.

Chicago went down a man in the 52nd minute when Noah Egan earned a second yellow card for a hard tackle. Despite being a man down, Chicago tied the game in the 62nd minute with a goal from Richard Fleming III. The play began on the left side of the field, where Justin Reynolds won possession of the ball and tapped it to Hernandez, who passed it back for Harold Osorio. The Salvadoran international slipped the ball into space toward the right side of the box. Fleming III sprinted onto the pass, hitting a powerful shot into the right side of the net.

Chicago returns home to host Orlando City B in a midweek match on Thursday, June 15, at SeatGeek Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT and can be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
