Match Preview
Chicago Fire FC II is home for two matches against Southeast Division opponents, welcoming Atlanta United 2 first to SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday, April 18.
Goalkeeper Owen Pratt and the CFII defense will look for their third consecutive shutout after posting one in a visit to Huntsville City FC on April 11. Despite a raucous home crowd, Chicago limited Huntsville to just one shot on goal, coming away with a point for the third straight match. In the ensuing shootout, the visitors overcame an initial miss to win the additional point, also finishing the evening with the second-fewest goals allowed in MLS NEXT Pro this season.
Atlanta has not lost a match outside of two at Eastern Conference leaders Crown Legacy FC this season. Just like CFII did the following night, ATL UTD 2 went on the road and posted a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory against Inter Miami CF II on April 10. At just 17, James Donaldson became the youngest goalkeeper to earn a clean sheet for the Georgia-based side. An early goal by forward Arif Kovac was enough for the win, but a second goal by midfielder Cameron Dunbar proved crucial after the 5 Stripes went down a man with five minutes left.
