Perez comes from California and El Salvador having been an academy director in the US Soccer DA and MLS Next club for over 7 years. In 2021, Perez took the assistant coach role for the El Salvador Senior national team, where he helped lead the team to the final World Cup qualifying group in Concacaf after a 12-year absence. In 2021 he also helped El Salvador reach the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup with their most wins in tournament history that same year. In April of 2022 Perez took the U20 El Salvador team, leading them to two finals in international tournaments and winning their Concacaf group in World Cup qualifying for the first time since 1994 in just 3 months. Gerson holds his A license and Director’s license with US Soccer.
