Fire assistant coach Frank Klopas and Houston head coach Tab Ramos played together on the U.S. Men's National Team from 1989-95, most notably in the USMNT's fourth-place showing at the 1995 Copa America Tournament in Uruguay. Klopas, then 28, scored the first goal in a 3-0 group stage win over Argentina that year, then scored the match-winning penalty shootout goal in a quarterfinal meeting with Mexico to advance the U.S. to the semifinals.
