Chicago Fire midfielder Djordje Mihailović was in action for the U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team on Thursday, captaining the side in a 1-0 defeat to Brazil.
The match was the first for the U.S. U-23s at the United International Football Festival, a four-team tournament played from Nov. 14-17 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.
Mihailović put in an 85-minute shift on the day, before being relieved by Hobro IK's Emmanuel Sabbi. Matheus Cunha provided the difference-making goal for Brazil in the 15th minute. The U.S. will next play their counterparts from either Argentina or Chile on Sunday, Nov. 17, pending tournament results.
Mihailović previously notched starts for the U-23s against Egypt (March 22) and the Netherlands (March 24), as well as starting and captaining the U-23s in a 2-0 friendly win over Japan on Sept. 9 at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
