Fire's unbeaten stretch reflected in latest MLS Power Rankings

Dax Nikolic celebration

In a scoreline reminiscent of their impressive summer form, the Chicago Fire blanked D.C. United 3-0 in front of the home crowd on Saturday night, their third straight match unbeaten.

Defender Brandon Vincent was elected to the MLS Team of the Week for his performance -- which included this diving header well worth a rewatch -- while Nemanja Nikolic matched Ante Razov's single-season club scoring record with his 18th goal via penalty kick in the 90th minute. The win -- which did not feature starting XI regulars Bastian Schweinsteiger, Michael de Leeuw, and Juninho -- saw Veljko Paunovic's side move up in the latest iteration of Major League Soccer's weekly power rankings released on Tuesday.

Here's what the league's editorial staff had to say about the club's ranking:

"3-0 without Bastian Schweinsteiger? Even if it was against D.C., the Fire have their mojo back."

The Fire hit the road on Saturday night for their first and only visit to Philadelphia to take on the Union (6:00 p.m. CT, CSN Chicago Plus) looking to continue cementing a spot in the 2017 MLS Playoffs.
