Chicago Bulls' Nikola Mirotic drops by Fire training session

Nikola Mirotic

Count Chicago Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic among those excited to see the Fire's ascent toward the top of the MLS standings in 2017.

Once a neighbor in Madrid of Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic, Mirotic has kept close tabs on the Men In Red over the last 18 months. Mirotic and Paunovic connected courtside at the United Center early in Pauno's tenure in Chicago, and last season saw the Montenegrin hoopster on the sidelines prior to a Fire home match

So Mirotic recently made another visit to Toyota Park, dropping by to observe a Fire training session and even get in a few kicks of his own. As you can tell from the photos below, the 6-foot-10 Mirotic cuts quite a figure in goal as he lines up to defend a penalty kick against Fire goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland

Mirotic also was among those in the sellout crowd at Toyota Park Saturday night to see the Fire win their seventh straight home match with a 4-0 victory over Orlando City SC
