Chicago Fire community joins Crawford family support efforts in wake of tragic accident

Crawford family

On the night of Thursday, Feb. 16, the Chicago Fire community suffered a tragic loss.

Kevin Crawford, who in 2010 founded the Chicago Fire Juniors Gold youth club based in Chicago's northwest suburbs and served as club director for several years, was killed in a car accident along with his wife, Anita, and 20-year-old daughter, Kirsten. Struck by a speeding motorist in Des Plaines, the Crawfords were returning from a local recreational soccer event, and now leave behind two young members of their loving family: Hailee (15) and Christian (9).

Since news of the horrific accident, friends, neighbors, acquaintances and perfect strangers have shown tremendous support for Hailee, Christian and the Crawford family, recently surpassing $100,000 in donations through a GoFundMe page established on behalf of the Crawfords. The founder of the GoFundMe page aptly describes the urgency of the circumstances and the magnitude of what was lost with the passing of Kevin, Anita and Kirsten Crawford:

"Kevin was the founder of the Chicago Fire Juniors Gold Soccer team. They were a close family that seemed to always be together, especially on the soccer field. On mornings at the grade school, you could see Kevin volunteering his time helping students out of their cars as their parents dropped them off. Anita was always upbeat, smiling and took time to stop to talk to you. I remember seeing Kirsten picking up her brother and sister from the school or helping out on the soccer field.

"Considering the circumstances, the need to reach out is urgent. This website has been established in hopes to help the 2 remaining Crawford children & their family manage this extraordinarily difficult time. Any donation is appreciated, but if you are unable to donate, thank you for taking the time to read. Please Share / Post this message and say a prayer for this family."
