Cedric Cattenoy goes in depth on the Chicago Fire Academy with American Soccer Now

Cedric Cattenoy

Earlier this year, the Chicago Fire announced that it had secured Cedric Cattenoy, an experienced and highly regarded coach within the youth system of international club giant Paris Saint-Germain, as the new technical director of the Chicago Fire Academy. Since making the move to the Windy City, Cattenoy has set about implementing his vision for the Academy's player and staff development, working in close partnership with the Chicago Fire first team staff to ensure technical continuity at all levels of the club.

Cattenoy recently chatted with Brian Sciaretta of American Soccer Now for an in-depth discussion of his coaching experience, reasons for the move to Chicago and his short- and long-term plans for the Academy.

"I have two goals for our academy," Cattenoy told Sciaretta. "The first one is to develop players for the first team. We must have in the next years several players from the academy playing for the first team.

"The second one is that the Chicago Fire Academy must have the strongest presence in player development. That reputation must shine in the United States. We have to be ambitious. Chicago Fire Academy must be one of the best academies in the country inside of the next few years."
