Chicago Fire Soccer Club to Host Sixth Annual Practice in the Community at Gary/Ortiz School on May 22

CHICAGO(May 13, 2016) — The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will host its sixth annual Practice in the Community, presented by the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health), at Gary and Ortiz Elementary School (3740 West 31st Street, Chicago, Ill.) on Sunday, May 22 from 9:30 a.m. to noon CT.


The Fire will practice from 10 to 11 a.m. and attendees will have an opportunity to get autographs from each player and coach following the session. The event is free and open to the public and will also include complimentary food, music, giveaways and interactive games.


“Practice in the Community is a great opportunity to connect with the community,” said Chicago Fire Chief Operating Officer Atul Khosla. “The Fire are dedicated to growing the game of soccer in Chicago, and events like this help create a more intimate bond between our players and their fans. We look forward to participating and hope to see a lot of fans at Gary/Ortiz School on May 22.”

As part of their initiative with the Fire around Stroke Awareness Month, UI Health will be on site to provide stroke education and BMI (body mass index) screenings.
