Chicago Fire's Jeff Larentowicz "I kept my expectations low" in red card appeal

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Red cards don't often get appealed and that remained the case for Fire midfielder Jeff Larentowicz on Wednesday after the club's appeal of his red card on Saturday at Montreal was denied.
"I kept my expectations low," Larentowicz told Chicago-Fire.com. "It doesn't help to get your hopes up for things like that."

The eight-year MLS veteran was sent off in the 63rd minute of the 2-0 defeat  after inadvertantly clipping Andrea Pisanu outside the penalty area.
With goalkeeper Sean Johnson looking as if he would make it to the ball first and defender Austin Berry also around the play at the time of the foul, the Fire filed an appeal of the decision on Monday.
In order for a red card to be overturned, an Independent Review Panel made up of one representative each from the U.S. Soccer Federation, Canadian Soccer Association and the Professional Referees Organization must make a unanimous decision to do so. 
The panel was not unanimous that referee Fotis Bazakos incorrectly identified the offense or that the disciplinary action was incorrect, meaning Larentowicz will serve his one-game suspension for next Saturday's home match vs. Philadelphia.
The game against his hometown side will be the first he's missed since coming to the club in January and will likely mean Logan Pause will team with Daniel Paladini in the heart of the Fire midfield.
"'I'm thankful the club felt strongly enough about it to put in an appeal," he said. "Its unfortunate but its one game and I'm moving on."
