The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that the club will help kickoff the World’s biggest soccer event, participating in viewing parties at different locations throughout the Chicagoland area for the 2010 World Cup Opening Match – South Africa vs. Mexico on Friday, June 11 at 9:00 AM CT, as well as the United States vs. England game on Saturday, June 12 at 1:30 PM CT.
The Fire will be on hand at Daley Plaza this Friday, June 11 at 9:00 AM CT for the World Cup kick off match between South Africa and Mexico. This event is free and open to the public. Jumbo screens will broadcast the game live on the plaza. In addition, Chicago Fire players Andrew Dykstra and Kwame Watson-Siriboe will attend the Saturday, June 12 watch party at Bull & Bear to support the United States’ World Cup effort as they face England at 1:30 PM CT. Fire mascot Sparky will also cheer on the U.S. against England that same day at a viewing party hosted by the South African Consulate at Montrose Park, which is free and open to the public.
The FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa will mark the 19th edition of the biggest soccer tournament and sporting event in the World. As the African continent will hold its first World Cup, the best 32 nations will battle to achieve one ultimate goal, the World Cup.
