Starting XI List 1920x1080 (1)

Chicago Fire FC returns home on Saturday night for a primetime meeting with FC Cincinnati on Polish Heritage Night at Soldier Field.

The Fire will have at least one Chicago debut tonight, as new signing Chris Mueller will receive his first start for Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson, while Jairo Torres is available for selection off the bench. Cincinnati enter the match in fine league form, having won their last three MLS matches. However, they'll be on short rest tonight following a 5-1 defeat to the New England Revolution in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament on Wednesday night.

Tonight's match kicks off at 7 p.m. CT, with local coverage available on WGN, CF97 Live, and Univision Radio or find additional coverage available on MLS LIVE's out-of-market package on ESPN+. Get the scoop on tonight's starting XI and bench below:

  • Five changes have been made to Hendrickson's starting XI that took on Atlanta United last weekend.
  • As noted above, Schaumburg native Chris Mueller will make his first Fire start after arriving from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian F.C. last week. Mueller made his Club debut as a second half substitution last week at Atlanta, playing 45 minutes.
  • Fabian Herbers returns to the starting XI tonight for the first time since the Fire's 0-0 draw with FC Dallas on April 2. Herbers also appeared as a second half substitution last weekend after missing over a month with a right hip injury. He and Mueller will flank Xherdan Shaqiri in midfield tonight.
  • Gastón Giménez also returns to the opening XI tonight after missing last weekend's match with a hip injury. He'll slot into holding midfield alongside Federico Navarro.
  • Captain Rafael Czichos is back in central defense tonight alongside Wyatt Omsberg. Czichos served a one-game suspension last weekend in Atlanta for a red card shown in the Fire's prior match against the New York Red Bulls.
  • At fullback, Jonathan Bornstein replaces Miguel Navarro, who will miss tonight's match while serving a one-game suspension due to yellow card accumulation. He'll lineup opposite Boris Sekulić.
  • Up top, Chinonso Offor makes his third-straight start after scoring the Fire's lone goal last weekend in Atlanta - his first of the season.
  • 17-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina will back stop the team in net tonight, making his 11th start of the campaign.
  • Available to Hendrickson as substitutions tonight are goalkeeper Chris Brady, defender Andre Reyolds II, defender Jhon Espinoza, defender Carlos Terán, midfielder Brian Gutiérrez, midfielder Mauricio Pineda, midfielder Jairo Torres, forward Jhon Durán, and forward Stanislav Ivanov.
  • Forward Kacper Przybyłko (back), and goalkeeper Spencer Richey (head) are unavailable for selection tonight due to injury.
