Chicago Fire Football Academy will host a series of talent identification events in preparation for the 2023-24 season. With a focus on identifying future academy players for the incoming U-13 age group, Academy staff will offer the opportunity for players in the 2011 birth year to showcase their talents over the months ahead.
Beginning with the 2023-24 season, the Academy will also bring back a U-19 team and will host open tryouts in December. These events are targeted to current sophomores and juniors in high school and players born in 2007, 2006 or 2005. A full schedule of events is listed below and registration can be found HERE.
Identification events for players born in 2011 will be offered throughout October, November, and December, followed by an assessment phase in January and February. The one-day ID events offer players the chance to put themselves through a series of games and activities. Although these events will be focused on the incoming U-13 age group, those born in 2012 are also encouraged to apply.
“We welcome the opportunity for players from the youth soccer community to join us for these ID events,” said Interim Chicago Fire Academy Director Nate Boyden. “They are an important part of us facilitating the opportunity for players throughout Chicagoland to be evaluated for future academy teams.”
Following the events, a select number of players will be invited back for an assessment phase comprised of once-per-week training sessions for six weeks during January and February.
Players born in 2010-2007 will have an opportunity to attend open tryouts in March/April 2023. At this time players in those age groups are welcome to apply for a trial through our online application HERE.
