CHICAGO (March 15, 2024) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has signed midfielder David Tchetchao Karo (pronounced: che-CHAO) to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through the 2025 season. Financial details were not disclosed.
“David is a player that we identified through our scouting network,” said Chicago Fire II General Manager Alex Boler. “He is a dynamic player who is very explosive and highly regarded at the national team level. We are excited that he chose to take the next step of his young career by coming to Chicago.”
Prior to joining Chicago Fire II, Tchetchao Karo played at ASVO FC in his home country of Benin. Tchetchao made his senior national team debut for Benin on Sept. 9, 2023, coming in as a substitute in the 3-2 loss against Mozambique in African Cup of Nations qualifying just 20 days before his 20th birthday.
“We look forward to having David with us,” said Chicago Fire II Head Coach Ludovic Taillandier. “His experience at the international level will certainly strengthen our team as we head into the 2024 season.”
